When i first found out about their upcoming wedding, the first thing that came to mind was, “of course, they’re both public figures and probably met at a who’s who type function”. How wrong i was..
Sitting down with Harith to discuss the details of the wedding that i would cover, he appeared excited, excitement u so often see in teenagers when speaking of a love interest. I was suprised, i mean common, this is Harith Iskander we’re talking about.. the presence, the ability to walk into a room and make 300 people laugh to tears, those alone gave me the impression that he would be a “cool customer”.. usually unfazed by much. To that end, I found Harith Iskander a very down to earth person, a person that in my opinion doesn’t feel the need to put up a “superstar” front, and i thought to myself, “this is refreshing!”.
With the ice broken, we got talking and doing what i do, it’s always a question that i was going to ask.. “so how did u guys meet?..”. “Fate” came his answer. He explains that he’s a firm believer in fate and that everyting happens for a reason, something i happen to agree with.
On meeting Jezamine, he shared that approx 2 years ago, he had been offered a role by a foreign production company but had rejected them on no less than 3 occassions. Finally, the company decided to sent their own representatives to meet with Harith in KL. Upon the discussions, Harith finally decided to take up the role. The production would see him shooting on site in Klang for long stretches at a time and in between shoots, he came across Jez’s pic in FHM and wondered who she was. He sent her a message, she replied (at this point, Harith has that funny expression of surprise on his face), and turns out his shoot site was literally 5 minutes away from where she lived! They hooked up for tea, and the rest is history..
But here’s the good part.. SHE HAD NO IDEA WHO HARITH ISKANDER WAS!! (now, it was me with the super surprised expression on my face!).. Here we have 2 people whose faces are prob among the most recognisable in the country and they both had no idea who the other was.. and that’s prob why Harith seemed like a teenager when talking about the love of his life, for this is well and truly a modern day fairy tale.
In terms of photography, i’m honoured and glad to have been officially engaged by Harith and Jezamine to not only cover the Pre-Wedding Portraits and Actual Day ceremonies, but also all the preparatory events along the way too.. wedding planners meeting, fitting for gowns, picking out the rings, etc, so keep in here in the JVP blog for each and every update..
